Chapter 4 - Modeling techniques and
resources
With the modeling tools from Blender, we can create a lot of different
shapes and 3D objects for any project. There are multiple tools like
modifiers, which can help in the creation of complex models. One of the
most useful modifiers is the Subdivision Surface that can smooth
polygons and help with organic modeling.
In this chapter, you will learn how to use modifiers and other options for
modeling. Modifiers offer a wide range of options for 3D creation like
smoothing, copying, and mirroring shapes. Besides modifiers, we will
also learn how to manage tools like the Spin to create round shapes,
which works like a mix of rotation and extrude.
If you follow the rules on using the Spin, you get unique shapes that
wouldn't be possible with the extrude alone.
Here is a list of what you will learn:
How to apply and manage modifiers
Use the Subdivision surface modifier
Control the smoothness of a Subdivision Surface
Set the radius for the Subdivision Surface
Apply different types of shading for models
Use the Mirror modifier for symmetrical modeling
Compose unique shapes with the Boolean
